This year’s Ocean Champion competition requires entrants to undertake a specific Ocean Challenge to help solve a problem in the marine environment.

Junior entrants (under 16) will outline their challenge and blog or post about it online. Junior challenges must be completed by 31 January 2019. All junior entries will be entered into a prize draw for a selection of fantastic spot prizes including a family pass for the Auckland Whale and Dolphin Safari cruise plus a photo card (worth $500).

Other junior challenge prizes sponsored by the Outboard Boating Club of Auckland include passes for Rainbows End and Burnsco Child Gift Packs containing a beach tennis set, an aqua water soaker, a Burnsco mask snorkel and a surf bounce ball.

Senior entrants will outline their challenge, the problem they plan to solve and how they will measure success. All senior entrants will be featured on the Seaweek website and voting will take place during February on the Seaweek website to choose the winner who will receive a prize package equivalent to at least $500 to support their work sponsored by the New Zealand Coastal Society. All senior challenges must be completed by the end of March 2019.

Entries closed on Thursday 31 January 2019. Nominees will all be featured on the Seaweek website and/or social media channels.
